Early one morning, a young man named Armando came to the mission base asking for help. He had come to wash his car near the riverbed on the property and it got stuck in the mud. Since it was the rainy season, this is a common occurrence. The men left the base with their Land Rover to help him, but before long the Land Rover was stuck too. They went back to the base for the Unimog and tractor to get the car and the Land Rover out. Soon, the Unimog was also stuck. After some time they managed to get Armando’s car out with the tractor. He was very pleased and stayed to help them with their cars, even buying extra rope to assist the others. They eventually got the Unimog out, and almost had the Land Rover free when a heavy rainstorm broke. The men had to wait inside the vehicles for it to stop. Cold and drenched, they went home for lunch, but returned to the vehicles afterwards with new plans and new strength. When they arrived back to the base they had all of the vehicles in tow. Armando stayed for the discipleship programme and was very touched by God. In tears, he confessed his sins and expressed a desire to know more about God. One OMer invited him to come back and visit whenever he is in town. He left, and a few minutes later came back with a gift of corn to bless the team. Please pray for Armando in his new faith. Pray for the OM team in Angola and for more opportunities like this. |
