"His passion was infectious!"; “I never knew OM was so vast and varied. I am learning more about OM all the time,” was some of the feedback received after the recent OM Celebration dinners. Almost 2,000 guests enjoyed an evening in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide or Perth to listen to OM Founder George Verwer speak, and hear of God’s faithfulness through OM testimonies. Each dinner was different and the Lord touched people in numerous ways.

“It was so good to have some OM fellowship again. I had been starving for it, living so far north,” shared one guest.

Audiences were inspired at each dinner by a live phone link with someone from their city who is serving overseas; OMers from South Africa, Tajikistan, the Near East, Japan and OM ships were interviewed. Some guests were thrilled to hear and see their daughter or son, for others someone they have been supporting and praying for. A DVD of David Byles’ testimony of his recent imprisonment in Turkey was an encouragement to trust God and step out of our comfort zone. But the real highlight of the evenings was Georges’ message. "I've never heard someone so passionate and vulnerable,” was a comment repeated at each venue, as audiences laughed and cried.

Funds were raised for Indian gospel DVDs to be produced and distributed the across India – a country experiencing tremendous revival and yet in some regions increased persecution. Guests were farewelled with a gift of books – characteristic of Georges’ passion for Christian literature and generosity.

“I was duly encouraged as God spoke to me ... George was so infectious with his love for God,” reported one guest, but the most common comment was "Love the jacket!"
