MTI partners with OM in parts of East Asia and the Pacific. Teams are committed to bringing, hope and justice to the suffering poor while living and working among the people.

MTI considers families as the glue within the community, and the children as our future. As such, their ministry is targeted specially on families and children experiencing hardship or crisis. Their humanitarian work has a bias towards four major areas:

Children at Risk: Children living on the streets of developing countries face the constant danger of being entangled in petty crimes, drugs, gangs or even prostitution. MTI seeks to give these young people a helping hand in building their self-worth and a place in the community. With the belief that every person is together body, soul and spirit, MTI adopts a holistic approach in offering friendship, education, clothing, food and counselling to these children. MTI is particularly interested in seeing under 12-year-old child victims of physical or sexual abuse given a fresh start in life. In 2004, our Mercy Teams in Cambodia launched "Project Freedom", a Child Abuse Treatment and Recovery Centre in Phnom Penh for physically and sexually-abused young girls.

Medical Health: Medical professionals make use of their expertise and training to offer treatment for the poor, who cannot afford the cost of seeing a doctor or dentist. Medical aids, health supplements and education are given to those in need.

Educational Support: Basic education is offered to illiterate children and youth so as to give them an opportunity to escape from the cycle of poverty. Children are motivated to enter or return to the school system by being provided with uniforms, school bags and stationery. Sponsorship of fees, as well as the teaching of morals, English and life skills is also provided.

Income Generation: We seek to empower the poor to lead a life of dignity, meet their essential need for food, shelter and basic education for their children. For many of them, this represents the first opportunity they ever had to earn an honest income. The  "Weaving for Women" partnership project and sewing centre amongst Burmese has provided many impoverished women with the chance for employment. The Computer Training suite provides life skills to unemployed youth on the Thai-Myanmar border.
