Work with the community based rehabilitation program for impaired children and train local staff. Produce better equipment for these children and visit satellite clinics.

Short Description: The orthopaedist will work as part of a team with the community based rehabilitation (CBR) program for impaired children, which is managed by an expatriate children’s physio. Training of local staff is one of the main focuses of this program. The orthopaedist would come along side the local Orthotist’s and help them to upgrade their skills. He/She could help the CBR project manager to produce better suited equipment (e.g. moulded seats, etc) for the impaired children and would visit satellite clinics with the CBR staff. An orthopaedist's  manual is available, produced by a European orthopaedists who worked here a few years ago.

Requirements:

  • recognised qualification
  • at least 2 years experience preferably in paediatrics
  • flexible and able to improvise using materials available locally
  • esteem for the local people
  • enjoys training and working with local staff and expatriates from different countries
  • modelling a positive attitude towards work and Christian values
  • fluent in spoken English 

Commitment Length: 6-12 months
