August 31 - Pakistan Flood Relief Update

Northern Team:

The team distributed 150 food packages in Madeen, a remote Northern town. A truck driver carrying our food packs said he will contribute all his profit to our efforts to support the people. A local person shared, “we thank OM for this brilliant effort of reaching our town and providing food. I see the passion you have for affected people.”

The team is organising a medical camp at Risalpur to assist 150 to 200 people, many on the brink of death from starvation and dehydration.

Sindh Team

The team spent time in the IDP’s camps and distributed meals to 175 families. With only one doctor, 25 patients had medical checkups and medicine. The team went to a WHO meeting to discuss relief and development and will select areas to be involved in reconstruction/development work.

Not only is food needed, but a change of clothing to allow washing, and hygiene products including soap. The team will adjust aid packs accordingly.

Standing water is a breeding ground for mosquitoes with a growing incidence of malaria and high fevers. There is an ongoing need for medical personnel to help.

In the coming days, we will complete our initial goal of supporting 3000 families which means 18,000 to 20,000 people selected on the basis of critical need, people nobody else was supporting.

We are thankful for your generosity in making this possible. We are looking to support 2000 more families; serving 25,000 to 30,000 people. We do not know what will happen if they do not get food.

Pray for team members for wisdom and strength. The team leader is very tired and sick, pray for his health. Pray for the restoration of affected Pakistani people!
