Project Update 6

Christmas is upon us and 2011 is fast drawing to a close. Yet before these two events occur, we will settle on our new building.

Our staff spent the past months busily focusing on raising the necessary funds, and we have seen amazing provision by God through our faithful partners. Thank you! We have done a mass mail-out to explain the project, built more pages on this website, developed a dedicated facebook page, held a partner weekend and celebration dinners in each state.

The day before the first dinner I was feeling a little disheartened, when the finance department phoned to tell me that someone had just given $35,000. When I heard who it was, I was surprised – a faithful giver, but certainly not wealthy. I phoned to thank her and she told me her story. Towards the end of 2010 she felt God lay on her heart the need for OMA to have their own building. When our publicity arrived she was pleased – “they have finally heard from God too,” she thought. But she didn’t have peace about how much. Just days before the first dinner she knew what God was prompting her to give. The money arrived the day of our first dinner. It was such a ‘God moment’ for me, assuring me that I was walking in His ways.

The dinners were inspirational, not just seeing gifts come in for the building, but connecting with people who pray for and support OM, and for those who serve, or are about to serve with OM. Between the five dinners we saw over 1100 people attend!

One lady (in her 70s) experienced culture shock. She had never eaten with chopsticks nor attended a mission gathering. She was surprised and blown away with the stats, maps, graphs and info although she has attended church all her life! She says she now knows more about the wonderful things happening for the extension of the Kingdom!

We settle on our new building next Monday - on December 12th. To date we have just over $1.2 million in cash and loans but we need another $800,000. As most of you know we have tax-deductibility for the project. A number of people have offered interest free loans for two years or more for us.
