Mike and Ann leave Logos Hope
Wednesday, 02 September 2009

After serving faithfully for the last three years as Managing Director of the Logos Hope, Mike Hey (Australia) and his wife Ann (Grenada) are preparing to leave the ship in a few weeks. Last night there was a Thank You dinner and celebration for Mike and Ann in preparation for today's handover of leadership to Gian and Eveline Walser (Switzerland). Gian has filled a number of different roles for the organisation in the past few years. Previously he was Director on board Logos II and more recently he led the Hotel and Catering Division on Logos Hope while also managing many practical aspects of the Project. We have a fantastic tool, we have a community growing up and a ministry going on,” said Gian, expressing his thoughts about this new role and continuing the vision for Logos Hope.

TeenStreet is coming!
Wednesday, 26 August 2009

Over 3,600 people from all over the world met in Offenburg, Germany from 1 - 9 August for TeenStreet 2009. The event was centred on the theme "Impossible," in coordination with the theme verse Hebrews 11:6, which talks about walking with God and earnestly seeking Him.

As well as a morning lesson and an evening worship session, the teens met in small groups and could attend workshops, seminars, and participate in sporting events. Among the many things to do, ArtsLink, AIDSLink, and SportsLink were there offering activities and information. One day of the week, the teens went into the city of Offenburg to collect glass bottles and prayer requests. This was a good opportunity for the teens to understand what it feels like to share their faith, and for Offenburg to be impacted by Christians in a positive way.

At the end of the week, teens were asked how TeenStreet impacted them. Joy, 14, from North Africa said, "I have a stronger relationship with Jesus and I've learned about faith and trust in God. I will read the Bible every day and tell everybody what I've learned."

Please pray for the teenagers as they go back home and into their normal lives, that they will still experience the same fire and passion for the Lord as they did at TeenStreet.

Turkey: ArtsLink
Friday, 07 August 2009

A team of five artists from South Africa, Americans and a Malay were hosted in Turkey. They brought their talent together to display the Gospel before the people of Cappadocia through the medium of art. Not only did they show the redemptive themes of the work of Christ on the Cross in their pieces, but also through their personal interactions with the artisans of Cappadocia they were able to give a real live taste of how the Gospel can bring something beautiful and glorifying to our Father in heaven out of darkened souls.

Even though the exhibition was the goal they were working towards, it was apparent that a lot of their ministry was in the form of personal interaction. The team were entertained by potters and their families into the wee small hours on a regular basis, securing a relational foundation upon which the Gospel was shared in word and deed.

One participant wrote: "As we connected heart to heart on the common ground of various art forms we experienced the heart-warming hospitality of the people in Avanos. Their biggest joy was to drop the work they were busy with to be able to treat us, to help us or to share their wisdom and techniques with us.”

Please pray for the local artists of Cappadocia. Pray that God would use creative ways to bring believers from all over the world to this area so that our Heavenly Father can expose our Turkish friends to his ‘workmanship.’ (Ephesians 2:10)
